Rates Officer

The Shire of Moora is seeking a part time, reliable, hardworking Rates Officer with great customer service and communication skills. This position has the ability to become a full time position for the right candidate.

Reporting to our Manager of Financial Services, this position is involved in the provision of effective rating services such as rates levies, debt collection, rates assessment and ongoing maintenance of the property data base. The successful applicant will provide a variety of tasks with the aim of ensuring the efficient and effective collection of rates.

Essential:

  • Experience with rates management (Full function)
  • Experience in local government financial functions
  • Experience working in a team environment and independently
  • Advanced level of computer literacy and proficiency
  • Experience with computer software including Microsoft 365 suite (strong MS Excel skills desirable).
  • Developed written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Developed time management and organisation skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • High level of confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with colleagues, customers and elected members.

Desirable:

  • Diploma or degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related areas.
  • Working knowledge of local government legislation and Australia Accounting Standards.
  • Familiarity with applications for Records Management
  • Familiarity with SynergySoft systems.
  • Understanding of workplace safety and relevant responsibilities
  • Hold a current “C” class WA motor vehicle driver’s licence.
