Waste Management

The Shire is responsible for the management of rubbish collection and the local rubbish tip. We encourage businesses and residents to recycle wherever possible.

The Moora rubbish tip is manned by a tip controller. To access the tip to dispose of rubbish, please present a tip ticket.

Tickets can be purchased from the Shire of Moora Office and Gull Service Station.

Each tip ticket will allow the disposal of one cubic metre or part thereof of any type of waste, apart from hazardous waste such as asbestos, and will need to be given to the tip controller manning the site.

Recyclables and green waste can be disposed of free of charge at the tip.

Opening Hours

Monday & Thursday CLOSED
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1pm - 5pm
Saturday - Sunday 8am - 5pm

The tip will be closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, ANZAC Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Recycling Bin

The following items are free to take to the Moora Refuse site:
* Green Waste: Lawn clippings, tree and shrub prunings
* White goods: Washing machines, fridges
* E-Waste: computers, TV’s, laptops
* Other: scrap metal, batteries, topsoil, bricks & timber.

Recyclable Item guide
* Plastic milk, juice, soft drink & detergent bottles with lids removed.
* Milk and juice containers
* Dairy and take away food containers
* Aluminium & Steel cans and foil trays 
* Newspapers, magazines, paper products including envelopes, letters, telephone books etc
* Cardboard boxes and containers

Tips to follow when recycling:
Washing out containers will help reduce odours coming from your bin
X Do not place recyclables in plastic bags or other containers in the bin
X Do not place broken glass, ceramics or cooking utensils in the bin
X Do not place light globes or waxed cardboard in the bin    

DrumMuster

There is a DrumMuster recycling program to remove farm chemical drums from the environment. This usually occurs in March and September. Dates are advertised in advanced. Clean drums can be delivered to Moora or Watheroo. Bookings can be made by contacting the Shire office on 9651 0000.

DrumMuster is a program set up to collect cleaned chemical drums for processing to enable reuse of the materials the drums are made from. More Information on this program including what drums are eligible and the cleanliness standard required can be found on www.drummuster.com.au.

Waste Oil

Attention Farmers: Would you like your waste oil (only) collected free of charge? WREN Oil will come to your property and collect waste oil for FREE (conditions apply).
