On Monday 11th November, the community paid its respects to the soldiers, nurses and community affected by war at the Remembrance Day Service, held at Moora's recently restored War Memorial Statue.
The restoration work was masterfully carried out by Limestone Craft, and we thank them for their attention to detail. The project was undertaken with a grant awarded through the Saluting Their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program, provided by the Australian Government’s Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
During the service, Arthur Tonkin, Moora RSL President, read out an article titled ‘A simple idea began a tradition that honours the sacrifices of war’, by Elizabeth Williamson for the Wartime Magazine – issue 41, the official magazine of the Australian War Memorial.
