Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) and the Shire of Moora, with funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, have joined together to bring you Green Shoots Moora.
We invite you all to the program's launch on Sunday 25th August from 1-3pm at Moora Performing Arts Centre with an afternoon of wine, cheese and music.
The Green Shoots program is based on the premise that many communities in WA have hidden musical treasures – individuals who once played a musical instrument, or are interested in learning to play one.
The PSO-led program will bring together Moora and surrounds-based musicians from the community and schools to form ensembles, supported by a dedicated PSO musician who will help coach, mentor and teach.
The program will culminate in a spectacular performance in March 2025 that will feature the Moora Green Shoots ensembles, set alongside the Orchestra, in a 'theatre' made of hay bales.
The Green Shoots program is designed to ultimately create sustainable musical groups that will continue beyond the year-long PSO residency to allow for future Moora performances – by the community, for the community.
